Editing Services
There are three basic types of editing.

Developmental is the most detailed look at your work. I will point out inconsistencies in your plot, logic problems, note areas of excessive exposition, etc. This also includes copy editing.

Copy editing is looking for flaws in the writing, but doesn’t look at things like story structure, plot consistency, story flow, etc.

Proof-reading is looking for spelling errors, typos, misused words etc.

In all forms of editing, it is important to remember it is your work. Suggestions will be made, but it is up to the author to either accept or reject the changes. I will give you my best effort, but all final decisions are up to you.

Developmental Editing

Developmental Editing looks at your manuscript as a whole project. Structure, logic, organization, plot, character development and story flow are evaluated. You may point out problem areas to which you may want me to pay special attention.

A final report will be provided along with the edited manuscript. It will cover the over-all flow of the story. Any plot inconsistencies will be pointed out. Logic bombs (places where the story doesn’t conform to known facts. e.g. Anachronisms.) will be highlighted. A final summary will give my general opinion of the work.

I will schedule a Skype meeting, telephone call or face-to-face meeting (depending upon your location) at your convenience to review the final report.

Copy Editing

Copy Editing notes problems of grammar, spelling, misuse of homonyms, style, repetition, word usage and jargon. I will not evaluate any foreign language you may have in your project.

Your manuscript will be edited in Microsoft Word and the “track changes” feature will be turned on so you can see what you wrote and my suggestions. I will also embed comments in the text.

Proof Reading.

Proof-reading is the lightest form of editing. Errors of grammar, capitalization, punctuation, spelling and word usage are high-lighted.
