Web Services
Your website is your most important marketing tool. You may use Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc. to spread the word, but you can’t rely on them to consistently deliver your message.
All of the social media sites are subject to change. A couple of years ago, Facebook was the best place to do your social media marketing, then Facebook started changing the rules. They discovered what a powerful marketing tool they had and decided to start charging for it. As a result, things that you used to be able to do for free are now paid services.
Any of the social media tools could change at any time. You have no control over them. You need an author website where you control the content and rules. It isn’t that hard or that expensive.
I have a soft spot in my heart for indie authors. I know how hard it is to get yourself established in the market. The last thing you need to is spend a lot of money on a tool that doesn't fit your intended purpose. I have over twenty-five years experience creating and maintaining websites for Fortune 500 companies. Now, I’m offering that expertise targeted specifically for authors at less than 1/4th the rate I charged large corporations.
I can offer suggestions for improvement to your existing site or create a whole new website for you.
Build Your Website
This is a collaborative process. We start by defining your goals.
Why do you want a website? What do you want to accomplish? How big do you expect your site to grow? How do you want to present your author persona (brand) to the world?
We will have from one to several conversations defining your needs. When the process is complete, I will present you with a requirements document to make sure we are in agreement on what I am to build.
Next we will choose a website host and secure your URL (That’s your web address). Then we’ll decide on a template to use for your site.
At this point you have some decisions to make. Do you want to be able to maintain your website yourself? Do you want advanced features?
Once we have answers to these questions, I will build the site and post it to a test address for your approval. If you have changes you want to make, we will do the adjustments, get your approval and publish the site for the world to see.

Start Blogging
Your blog is the tool that will drive readers to your website. You need to provide clever, useful information on a regular basis to attract readers. Once they are on your blog page, it is easy to get them to click on your book list and see what you have to offer.
Your goal is to find a niche that readers want to read about.
I had about two hundred readers following my blog, then I started a series called “Great Dane on Board.” We were sailing down the West Coast from Seattle to Mexico and Dawn had two Great Danes. People kept asking me how we lived on a boat with two such massive animals.
I started the blog series. After two entries, Odin, the male, had some differences with what I was writing. He took over the blog and in a matter of days I had nine thousand readers.
Let me share my experience with you to get you started. I’ll help you set up your blog and give you suggestions as to content. You will need to be consistent in posting new material.
